This summer in 2017, I am on behalf of a subsidiary company of F, that is tasked with launching innovative products in emerging markets, including virtual reality, digital health, and more. As a contemporary artist, and I become the chief of the ART and Marketing department of this company at the same time. A meaning extraordinary-design has been expected by everyone. Based on market strategy, we decide to development a unique Bluetooth true wireless earphone (BT-TWS) with selected graceful shape, highly ergonomic and pure sound quality. I am honored to have such opportunity to design and develop this product “An unique BT TWS headphone with asymmetrical ergonomic structure” as an art working with high technologies. Now, I am a contemporary artist and a passionate product maker with some of cross-functional experience and with experience also in corporate strategy, portfolio management and sales at the same time. As a contemporary artist, I always think of the product what I am responsible for should be as a work of art. However, when I start to consider creating a work of art, “Inspiration” is always the most important, not just visual beauty which defined by the inertia visual experience, but beyond the inertia visual experience. That’s why I start to consider creating this BT TWS earphone which should have some enlightening elements (that is “Inspiration” ) for that at the beginning. First of all consideration, I chose to reserve the part of asymmetrical ergonomic structure of earbuds faithfully. It is also a meaningful obedience to the natural sciences. And it is also a “part” which service the physical body of human. These well stable fixed ergonomic structure which consisting of some arc and curve surface have a sense of continuity, non-geometry and gentle softness in the visual. On the other hand, I would like to do some relatively large contrast in visual effect for the body of the earphone. I devised a “visual conflict boundary” for the body of earphone. The body should have a sense of non-continuity, more geometry and hard rigid in the visual. And we can define the “source of visual power” over here. Therefore, I try to visualize this contrast by creating the“power of boundary” in visual effect. It is a kind of meaningful performance to the humanities. There are two sides on the border, one is persistence and another is compromise. The whole design is the result of the reconciling between persistence and compromise. I propose some sense of the meaningful symbol for charging dock with the appearance of the triangle. They might be Physical Vitality(will power), Mental Faculties and Emotional Intelligence. This, among other complexities is where the triangle symbol meaning of creation is stemmed. Each side and corner sings out a melody, and their combination in form creates a marvelous harmonic orchestration. All the mystic teachings incorporate the power of three within the body. Three represents the union of the numbers prior to it (One and Two). Numerologically speaking, if “One” represents force, and “Two” represents an opening, then “Three” is the birthing of true wisdom. On the other hand, I would try to propose an “achievable specification” such as product performance requirements, designed features of this earphone(with charging dock) for discussion, and propose a “developing schedule” for the reference. And to support the marketing team with digital asset management, brand asset creation (e.g. marketing collateral and materials), and helping finish out the visual guidelines. First of all, I would like to offer a simple question which seldom be discussed, that is “Since it has been confirmed that the Pinna (the outer part of the ear) of the human is asymmetrical, why the most of headphone should be designed as symmetrical ? “. My point is that “a type of the asymmetric structures of earphone (earbuds) which accord with the need of ergonomics to the utmost. Designed an asymmetric structures of earphone and ear buds which suit to the most people by the method of data analysis of difference of auricle.” And a group of pinna with different fine structures are used in this study. And more of that, we designed some type of earphone, headsets, earphone jacket and other acoustic accessories to be suitable for the public by this theory. (to be continued…)
